Press release - On the Journalist-Organizer relationship

The ACP Board was recently confronted with issues relating to the organizers / journalists relationship which deserve serious consideration by the chess community.
In a rather well-known case which received quite some international resound and was also brought to the ACP's attention, an Italian journalist was denied accreditation* at an international round robin tournament on the grounds that her previous comments on the event were not to the taste of the organizing committee.
Unfortunately, this is not an isolated case, as the ACP is aware that this same situation arose in other important events as well, some of which under official banners.

Russian Online Blitz Grand Prix Open

ACP Book of the Year - results

From the very outset, the ACP Book of the Year contest proved to be an exciting race between three books: Mark Dvoretsky's "Tragicomedy in the Endgame" (Russell), John Nunn's "Understanding Chess Middlegames" (Gambit) and "Garry Kasparov on Garry Kasparov, Part 1" (Everyman Chess). As the days passed by, and with almost 200 votes cast, these three books kept alternating on top of the list - gathering altogether almost 60% of the preferences. On the closing day, John Nunn and Mark Dvoretsky had managed to overcome Garry Kasparov by a mere three votes, totaling 39 points each.

ACP Tournament of the Year - results

The ACP is glad to announce the results of the Tournament of the Year contest. 20 events of different formats were selected for the contest and all ACP members could vote for up to 5 best tournaments of 2011. Voting for the best tournament of the year, the ACP members have shown their appreciation of the hard work done by the organizers.

Regulations for the Women's World Rapid and Blitz Championship 2012

The Association of Chess Professionals and the Georgian Chess Federation are proud to announce the Women's World Rapid and Blitz Championship 2012 to be staged at Sheraton Hotel, Batumi, Republic of Georgia, from 30 May to 6 June 2012.
The event is approved by FIDE.
